Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967)

In this unique example of Burchfield’s wallpaper work, intense patterns take on an almost pointillist quality. At center, the scene expands through a cathedral-like archway, foreshadowing similar compositional devices used in Burchfield’s transcendental landscape masterworks.
