Candace Keegan Masters
Candace Masters is an artist and art educator. Ms. Masters holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in painting from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She attended SUNY Potsdam, earning a Master of Science in teaching and BA in art studio, with a concentration inpainting. Her artwork has been exhibited in Washington, DC, Chicago, Virginia, Maryland, Texas, Kansas, California, Buffalo, NY, New York, NY, Niagara Falls, NY and Hamilton, Ontario.
A public school teacher for nine years in the Baltimore/DC/ Virginia area, Ms. Masters worked as an adjunct Professor at Catholic University, Marymount University and Northern VA Community College, teaching classes in design, drawing, painting and figure drawing. She returned to WNY in 2008 for a full-time position in the Dept. of Art Education at Buffalo State College, where she is currently an Associate Professor. Sincejoining the faculty at Buffalo State, she has been recognized as a Service-Learning Fellow, which includes extensive involvement in many community service projects in WNY, engaging with local schools, community programs and arts organizations. In 2014 she was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Commitment to Service Learning Award and received an award for Special Recognition for Community Impact. She was a recipient of a 2011 Provost’s Incentive Grant Award for her “Defining Moments Project”. In addition, she has been a teaching artist with Buffalo Public Schools’ Buffalo Urban Arts Teacher’s Academy (BUATA), Buffalo Public School’s Artists in Every Classroom Program and the Buffalo Arts Teachers Collaborative (BATC). Professor Masters is an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and also served on their board.
