“I do not know Joel personally, but I feel as though I [have] been a student of his. His Illustrations inspired me to become a professional Illustrator while still a formative student. In 1993 I purchased a book that I still cherish to this day, that book was the Society of Illustrators 34th Annual of American Illustration.
In that annual I saw Joel's work for the first time. Today as in 1993, I think there is a subtle beauty, unique vision, and outstanding craftsmanship in Joel's Illustrations, and his work speaks to me in a profound way. So this is much more than a recommendation of Joel's work, it is a personal letter of thanks to one of the best Illustrators of our time.”
