Martha Hurley is a painter and Buffalo native who now lives in New York City. She received a BA in painting from the University at Buffalo in 1985. A founding member of the performance/media/visual art collective Public Domain in the 1980s, she performed with the group at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center. After leaving Buffalo for Chicago and then New York City, she worked in the publishing industry, primarily with Vanity Fair.
