The animations in the Front Yard are a three-screen site specific animation about the experience of architecture and space in Buffalo. The work is low in detail and intentionally given a rough patina to emphasize Buffalo's deep and varied history. The line quality rendered over the animation is bold and fluid to symbolize Buffalo's resilience and fluidity. Parts of the animation are slow and meditative while other parts move quickly. Abstractions become concrete while clear forms become abstract. This too is about Bufflalo's variety of life and it's ability to change and adapt. Many of the 3D models in the animation were created by Buffalo State's Interior Design students. The project was designed, animated and scored by Buffalo State Design professor Brent Patterson who worked in consultation with Interior Design professor Bhakti Sharma.
