Memories and nostalgia for her hometown inspired Sally Burchfield Ferris (Hill) as a writer. The Ford Times published her article, “The Burchfields’ Favorite Town—Gardenville, New York” in November 1960. The project was a family collaboration. It included Sally’s lyrical essay, a cover illustration of the painting Autumn Morning by her renowned artist father, and eight illustrations by her sister, Martha Burchfield Richter.
