As a teenager I used to travel to Colden to ski at the Kissing Bridge ski area. That memory was in the back of mymind as I painted this some of the adjoining hills.
"What I want is a circular museum, large enough to house these four season transitions..." wrote Burchfield in 1964. The Charles E. Burchfield Rotunda, the Burchfield Penney's circular gallery dedicated to Burchfield's work, fulfills this wish.
