Ricky Long was like many other 18 year olds: confused, but optimistic. In the summer of 1977, he was looking forward to a semester at Buffalo State College when he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the victim of a brutal crime. Follow crime reporter Matt Gryta, who covered the case from beginning to end, as he exposes the gritty details of the crime, the trial and the consequences of that grim night.
Matt Gryta is a veteran crime reporter based in Buffalo, New York. A staff reporter for the Buffalo News for nearly four decades, Gryta has spent his entire career covering gritty stories of crime, punishment and violence in the Western New York region. Early in his career, Gryta served as a U.S. Army war correspondent during the Vietnam War. More recently, he has appeared on E! Entertainment Television and Investigation Discovery to shed light on remarkable cases he covered. Gryta is also the author of The Real Teflon Don: How an Elite Team of New York State Troopers Helped Take Down America s Most Powerful Mafia Family, available through Cazanovia Press and Joey 22, available through Getzville Grove Press, Ltd. He resides in Snyder, NY with his wife, Adrienne.
The Center’s book club takes place on the First Thursday of the month and features books written by WNY authors. Whenever possible, the author will attend the meeting!
