Next-door neighbors Jackie Albarella and Joan Albarella will talk about what life was like growing up so close to the Burchfield family. Motivated by her memories, Jackie Albarella interviewed neighbors for a documentary video and shared her experiences in the exhibition, “My Mr. Burchfield,” shown at the Burchfield Penney Art Center when Burchfield’s Gardenville Studio evocation was launched. Writer Joan Albarella has published her memories. Community advocate Mary Ann Kresse, who lived a few doors away, has childhood memories of walking with Mr. Burchfield to the Post Office. Gardenville resident Nancy Barlow self-published a compilation about the hamlet’s history, excerpts from Burchfield’s journals, and personal recollections interwoven with those of other local denizens.

The programs is free for Burchfield Penney Art Center members; SUNY Buffalo State students, faculty and staff; and visitors with museum admission.
