Come lend your voice to our chorus and sing out for equality and justice!
The Women’s Resistance Revival Chorus is a community chorus open to all woman-identifying members of the Buffalo/WNY community. There are no auditions; and you do not need any official singing experience to participate. If you like to sing, participate in resistance, and/or champion women's rights, this is the group for you!
We rehearse every other Thursday at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. All rehearsals are “open sings” where anyone can attend and participate. We do ask that you attend at least 2 rehearsals (3 preferred) to participate in performances.
For decades, voices of dissent have penetrated American culture to reform society for the betterment and advancement of this nation. From the abolition of slavery, women's suffrage and human rights to civil rights, anti-war and environmentalism, putting a message to music in protest songs has always been a hallmark for social change. Our movement must be fueled by equal parts protest and culture.
In this spirit and in celebration of the one-year anniversary of the historic Women’s March, the Burchfield Penney Art Center is co-organizing the Women’s Resistance Revival Chorus directed by Buffalo-based singer, songwriter Drea D’Nur. The chorus will perform songs that champion the rights of women, people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, and anyone who feels left behind by society. The Resistance Revival Chorus is fully aligned with the Women’s March Unity Principles at https://www.womensmarch.com/principles)
The chorus will perform in the East Gallery as part of M&T Second Friday in March on Friday, March 9 at 7:00 pm.
