Hosted Event  |  Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society May Meeting and Artist Presentation

Thursday, May 15, 2014, 7–9 pm

Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Auditorium

Our Thursday, May 15th meeting of the Niagara Fronteir Watercolor Society will be held at 7 pm at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. The featured presenter will be our May Workshop Artist, internationally renowned artist and teacher, John Salminen.

John will present an entertaining and informative slide talk. He encourages audience participation in the form of questions and comments throughout the presentation as he discusses subject matter, technique, composition and specific challenges as related to the images he shows. "I believe a talk should inform but also entertain the audience, even the non-painters in the group." Please join us for a fun evening!

Salminen has won over 200 major awards in national and international exhibitions including the AWS Gold Medal twice, the Allied Artist Silver and Gold Medals, the NWS Silver Star Award twice, the TWSA First Place Award three times and the Shanghai International Biennial Award. He has been an invited artist in 14 exhibitions in Asia and Australia. He is a frequent juror/judge of national and international exhibitions. His work is featured in many national and international books and magazines. John is a signature member of several art societies, including AWS, Allied Artists, TWSA and NWS. He is a member of the Jiangsu Watercoour Research Institute in China and is the first American member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.

Visitors are invited to hear about watercolor classes and upcoming events, and watch the presentation with a group of enthusiastic fellow artists, art lovers and supporters of programming at the BPAC. Parking fees will be waived for the event. Non- BPAC members will be required to pay the gallery entrance fee of $10 for adults and $8 for seniors.
