Reading | Buffalo Public Schools Poetry Competition
Saturday, June 29, 2019, 2 pm
Poetry written and performed by young people from around the region will fill the theater at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on June 29, as a months-long competition to inspire students of all ages concludes.
The event is presented by the Burchfield Penney and spoken word artist Solomon Dixon, whose firm LeadLine LLC has been conducting poetry workshops throughout area schools this year.
During the workshops at each school, competitions were held to select the approximately 10 student poets from across the region. They have been invited to perform their works at the Burchfield Penney, where a panel of judges will name the top artist.
Solomon Dixon (Leadline LLC) is leading a series of poetry workshops with Buffalo Public Schools. This event is the final culmination of the students’ poetry and will be an opportunity for the best poets in the program to compete in the auditorium.
