Tanks are rapidly approaching Riga, Latvia, and a family must decide what to do. Juris, the father, finds a love that sustains him from Siberia to the new postwar Latvia. Laura has left for Spain with a Division Azul soldier who was sent to fight in Russia. Olga escapes Latvia but ends up in a displaced persons camp in Germany until she and her family immigrate to Canada. All three reinvent their lives in this exceptional story of love and war.
