BEYOND BOUNDARIES: DARE TO BE DIVERSE Screening and Discussion Series presents the first film of the Fall 2015 semester: The Mask You Live In
Director: Jennifer Siebel Newsom 2015, 97 minutes
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
Jennifer Siebel Newsome’s first film, Miss Representation, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and exposed the ways in which mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence. The Mask You Live In was presented at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and explores how America’s narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men, and society at large, while urging viewers to take action. With the release of this second film (and more to come), The Representation Project steps into a bolder agenda. One that requires all of us working together to ensure equality and justice. The Mask You Live In is also sponsored by: The Office of Equity and Campus Diversity, The Communication Department, Women & Gender Studies Interdisciplinary Minor
The film is free and open to the public.
