Sandy Ludwig captures the atmosphere of a place through her distinct observations of the landscape. The sky in particular becomes a tipping point to how the weather will determine the mood of the watercolor. Participants will be inspired by Charles E Burchfield’s paintings, learn about how he recorded the weather conditions and the effect weather was on the environment. Participants are encouraged to bring a photograph of cloud formations, weather conditions, rain, snow dusk, autumn or spring along with watercolor painting supplies. Level: all are welcome
Sandy Ludwig painted The Spirit of Ashoken while in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. “From the moment I arrived, I found the atmosphere and the landscape to be very spiritual and inspirational. Executed mainly on site, I was drawn to the beauty of my surroundings, including the wildlife that lived in peace and harmony there. The allure and quiet of the environment created in me the feeling of being part of nature”.
