RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World is a Canadian feature documentary about the role of Native Americans In popular music history that won a Special Jury Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival for Masterful Storytelling. Rumble brings to light a profound and missing chapter in the history of American music: the Indigenous influence. Featuring music icons Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and Taboo, Rumble shows how these pioneering Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives.
The film was inspired by the popular Smithsonian Institution exhibit “Up Where We Belong: Native Musicians In Popular Culture,” which Johnson created for the National Museum of the American Indian. Rumble is produced by Rezolution Pictures, an award-winning Aboriginal-owned film, television and interactive media production company.
