This exhibition – a biennial, juried exhibition of fine art in craft media – presented selected works by established and emerging regional talent, as well as providing purchase awards that enable the Burchfield Penney to build the craft art collection. Funding for this exhibition came from The Sylvia L. Rosen Endowment
In 1998, the juror was Paul J. Smith, director emeritus of the American Craft Museum in New York. He selected Cassondra Argeros, Sara Baker-Michalak, Cosmo A. Barbaro, Nancy Belfer, Susan Brown, Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez, Sean Calyer, Leeann Catanzaro, Loraine Cooley, Brett Coppins, Laurie dill-Kocher, Dan Finnegan, Paul Harp, William Herod, Linda Huey, John Jauquet, Sandra Lapham, Allen Lewis, Scott Losi, Joshua Margolis, Ayesha Mayadas, Gail McCarthy, Stephen Merritt, Barbara Murak, Richard James Nickel, Hannah Niswonger, Keng Nio Lolly Ong, Merry Radke, Brin Reinhardt, Kathi Roussel, Carl Shanahan, Paul Sherman, Bonnie Smith, Amy Stangler, Carol Townsend, Lawrence Tschopp, and Robert Wood.
The Sylvia L. Rosen Endowment Purchase Award went to Kathi Roussel for Lifeform, 1998, ceramic, 10x43x9½ inches.
