Through field trips, research and art, students at the Native American School 19 learned an in-depth history of Indigenous people in Western New York. Elders and storytellers taught students oral history and significant events related to the Buffalo Creek area. Students created drawings, paintings and photographs to document this project under the supervision of former Buffalo Public School art teacher Nancy E. Smith.
The mission of Neto Hatinakwe Onkwehowe is to promote and support the art and culture of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas in the Western New York region.
