April 26 – Sunday –
Train in the morning – the first rollicking song of the yellow warbler. –
Sanded the frame – it came out well –
Cooler in the afternoon & raining – B & I to Albright gallery to see three shows – The Drumlevitch (tastefully colored abstract designs, but that is all) – the B.S.A. show – (too mediocre for interest) - & a collection of old masters prints – etchings & ..., a fine group. I am amazed all over again at the incredible craftsmanship, as well as pure art of Rembrandt’s etchings.
To the A. I. B. for Marcus Pratt’s opening – A good show – he has a poetic outlook lacking in most of the other young Buffalonians. The Pratt family are really nice people to have around.
By this time my back was bothering me & I was exhausted. Home and somewhat discouraged.
My mind has been full of little else but thoughts of the Whitney Retrospective, and teems with ideas – it overshadows the Cleveland Show next fall – but even that will work in with the retrospective idea inasmuch as I will have to get all my drawings in shape.
