A clear fresh day. Working in the yard, studying the Peter Bird picture –
A dream – on a ramble in a ravine near a city with Speicher, Hopper & one other (Dubois?) – We found a sealed keg which Speicher suspected to contain something dangerous. Gingerly we opened it, and found an oblong object wrapped in brown paper. We suspected it to be a bomb, and almost at once a hissing sound began to issue from it. Speicher took it, and running between two freight cars, threw it into a large pond. Almost as it hit the water it exploded with a terrific roar. Someone shouted “Cut that out” and presently two policemen came to question us. They decided to take us in for questioning & we were soon riding up in a huge iron bucket to which a wide-rope was fastened. All the way up I tried to get myself into the good graces of one of the officers. I awoke as we reached the top.
