Last year I got an idea for making a decorative garden fence out of cement, and the other day I made a wooden form and filled it with a cement mixture—However today I could not removed (sic) it without ripping the form to pieces, & even then it all broke apart. So I started on another, more simplified version, using thicker wood (1 1/8)—when I had the top piece made it suddenly occurred to me that the wood itself painted would be just as good—B agreed with me,—I could not give up the notion that the fence made out of say, clay & then fired & glazed would be a very useful adjunct to little gardens.
