A dream last night: -
I had been out frog-hunting at night with Howard Austin. We had returned wet & tired to his home, which was on Hawley Ave Salem, Ohio. It was about 2 A.M. I was trying to arrange or adjust my clothing in some way, and kept walking around in their kitchen. Having on heavy shoes with thick stiff soles, I made considerable racket when I walked, so much that I awakened my companion’s father, sleeping above (in actuality, Howard Austin’s father & mother died long before I ever knew him). He flew into a [violent] rage, and cursed me with the most vile language, and announced his intention of coming down & whipping me soundly & kicking me out the door. As often happens in dreams, I was powerless to make my escape, and not only that, could not keep from walking around, making more noise, which brought more curses down on my head. I awoke before the denouement.
