The other day going over my early summer 1915 notes—remembering a note on a moon reflected in Little Beaver below Covered Bridge. I finally found it. It evoked memories of June twilights and nights along the Little Beaver; and of thick white mists lying low in chilly meadows; of myriad fireflies, and ghostly arrowhead flowers—
Today I painted a moonlight fantasy based on these memories, with enormous elm-shaped phantoms rising up toward the moon, white-crowned—a "never-never land" that fills me with happiness.
