Outside a soft gentle rain is falling from a dark misty sky, with a soothing patter. Thru the door is to be seen a [glimpse] of brilliant green grass, some tattered garden plants, a half-bare mountain ash, and a maple thick with russet and green foliage. The autumnal gloom has invaded the studio, and casts a [glower] over all common objects; and even my thoughts: it seems wonderfully good to be alive and in the exact spot, at this exact season of the year.
