Sunday Dec. 15 – 1940 –
A.M. All of us to church –
P.M. Writing letters to Saint-Gaudens – Daniel Catton Rich, Louise & Carl Schaefer.
At twilight – A. & I for walk to Union Rd. Bridge over Penna. R.R. —
Long dark bars of clouds over the clear watery Southwest sky – the roundhouse sending up puffs of white smile, interspersed with the brilliant stars of electric lights. A- said he liked the roundhouse lit up. It reminded him of the N. Y. World’s Fair.
We stayed on the bridge watching the engines shifting back & forth until we got too cold to stand still any longer.
