December 22 – Saturday –
Last evening’s snowfall continued until morning –
The boy down the street who has shoveled for us this winter showed up early and soon had driveway and path to studio cleared.
Hank came early too, and, announced that since he could not go flying he was going to install doorbells for us. It proved to be more of a job than he had bargained for, se we had him stay to lunch.
In the mail the Electronic Improvisations by Sala[i] and electronic music for the ballet by Gassman sent Ernestine + Jim Sample.
It was about 1:30 before I got to the studio, and did not feel in the mood for work. I had planned to make a Christmas picture, using the front of our house as a setting. However, I did make a rough sketch of the idea which seemed all right, but not quite as large as I would like to work on it. So, I will have to make a larger drawing to scale.
Evening - Played some of the electronics record just a curio – sounds without a soul.
Played then Virgil Thomson movie music for The River + Plow That Broke the Plains.
