February M&T Second Friday!
Friday, February 13 from 5:30 pm

On the Second Friday of every month, thanks to the support of M&T Bank, the Burchfield Penney hosts something great! From openings and happy hours, programs, concerts, screenings or other special events, visitors experience the best of the Burchfield Penney. Gallery admission is free all day (10 am-8 pm) with special events and programs beginning at 5:30 pm. 5:30-7:30 pm Opening Celebration: Richard Kegler / P22 Type Foundry: Charles E. Burchfield (The Font Project) in the Collection Study Gallery

In 2013, Richard Kegler, co-founder and lead designer of Buffalo NY-based P22 Type Foundry, was commissioned by the Burchfield Penney to create the Charles E. Burchfield font to honor the artist. This exhibition celebrates the acquisition of the font into The Center’s collection.

The exhibition includes ephemera from the P22 Archive at The Center and various fonts it has developed over the past 20 years. The installation also includes archival objects from the Charles E. Burchfield Archives at the Burchfield Penney that were used in the development and design process. A limited edition specimen book of the type will be available in the Museum Store. Works by the following P22 staff and collaborators who are part of this exhibition include: Jimy Chambers, Carima El-Behairy, James Grieshaber, Brian Grunert, Colin Kahn, Alan Kegler, Denis Kegler, Kevin Kegler, Thomas Kegler, KC Kratt, Maria Pabico LaRotunda, David Lyttleton, Rod McKuen, Miranda Roth, Jim Rimmer, Pete Reiling and Michael Want. Exalted Nature: The Real and Fantastic World of Charles Burchfield Closes on February 22

Experience this landmark exhibition before it is gone forever! Featuring more than 50 works by Charles Burchfield from public and private collections, it is a must see! Many of these works have never been on view at the Burchfield Penney before, and it will be years before they are again! Exhibition co-curator Nancy Weekly will lead two tours of Exalted Nature in February, on Sunday, February 8 and Sunday, February 22, both at 2 pm. Tours are free with gallery admission. The International Center for Watercolor Resumes for 2015
Watercolor classes and programs take place on Sundays for the spring 2015 session and include a variety of hands on classes, all taught by artists. February 15 is the date of Painting Uncorked at The Center! Grab a friend and join Jody Ziehm and Beverly DiPalma for this latest painting craze. Ideas Prime Returns for 2015

Ideas Prime is a series of screenings, lectures and conversations which create a forum for an exchange of ideas designed to understand how local, global and cultural issues are interrelated.
