May M&T Second Friday at the Burchfield Penney Art Center
Friday, May 10

May M&T Second Friday includes happy hour with music by the Mathew Felskie Quartet (5:30-7:30pm), Hands-On in the Useum with Shasti O'Leary Soudant (5:30-7:30pm), a book signing with Bruce Jackson (7pm) and An Evening with Bruce Jackson, including a screening of the Diane Christian / Bruce Jackson film Death Row at 8pm and a performance of A Garland (for Bruce 2012) by David Felder performed by Jonathan Golove (cello), Bruce Jackson (images) and J.T. Rinker (electronics). The galleries are open until 8pm.

Special Days this Spring for Teachers, Seniors and College Students – And, Art Museum Day

This month sees a number of days celebrating members of our community – including teachers (on May 7 for National Teacher Day), college students (on May 9, hosted by the Center’s college student volunteers) and seniors (on May 31 in recognition of Senior Citizen Month). The Burchfield Penney is also part of Art Museum Day on Saturday, May 18. The Center joins more than 100 museums across the country in celebrating museums! Watercolor Workshops and More are Part of the International Center for Watercolor in May

The International Center for Watercolor at the Burchfield Penney is hosting several events this month including a discussion with curator Nancy Weekly (May 3) on the medium of watercolor, a workshop with Sally Traenor (May 11), the Niagara Falls Watercolor Society’s demonstration with Mark Mehaffey (May 16), a plein air watercolor painting event with Rita Argen Auerbach (May 18) and a workshop with Carol Case Siracuse and Sandy Ludwig  (June 1). In the Galleries

May 5 marks the closing of Well Crafted in the Margaret L. Wendt and R. William Doolittle Galleries. A four-day exhibition of Asian Lacquerware as part of Buffalo State's Asian Lacquer Symposium will be on view from May 20-24. For more on current exhibitions, visit www.BurchfieldPenney.org.
