A Community of Steel
Steel Plant Museum of Western New York and Monroe Fordham Regional History Center
On View Friday, April 13–Sunday, July 1, 2012
A Community of Steel was organized by the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York (SPMWNY) and the Monroe Fordham History Center. The artifacts and artwork (produced by steel workers and also for the steel industry) presented in the exhibition explore the history of the steel industry in Western New York.
The exhibition features selections from SPMWNY’s photography collection which reflect the life of the steel workers and their families. Most of the photographs were professionally shot inside Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Others are images taken by private photographers who captured the workers’ experience and the effects that the steel industry has left on the region.
Celebrate A Community of Steel at our M&T Second Friday on May 11 from 4:00-8:30 p.m.
