Ginny O'Brien

b. 1955

Ginny O'Brien is a Buffalo, N.Y.-based artist, educator, and writer. Her work has been exhibited regularly in solo and group shows throughout the region and the U.S. and is featured in collections around the world, including the Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry (Miami, Fla.), the Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Buffalo, N.Y.), and the Lessedra Art Gallery of Contemporary Bulgarian and International Art (Sofia, Bulgaria).

O’Brien holds an MFA in studio art, fibers, from Syracuse University, an MA with concentrations in textiles and art education from Buffalo State College, and a B.S. in nursing from Wichita State University. She has taught studio and lecture courses in design and fiber art as well as workshops for healthcare professionals, teachers, and artists linking creativity and wellness. Her articles on a variety of subjects have appeared in The Journal of Family Medicine, Surface Design Journal, Western Humanities Review, and Buffalo Spree, among other publications.

O’Brien is curator of education for the University at Buffalo Art Galleries and serves on the board of Aspire of Western New York, Inc. [1]
