Joan Langley Shaw was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and is based in Cambria, N.Y. Oil paint is her preferred medium. Asked to describe her artistic practice, she writes, "In recent years my work has centered around landscape imagery, drawing on poignant inspirations from the Ontario Plain and Great Lakes Waterways. My love of painting outdoors encouraged me to seek out other artists passionate about art and the environment, subsequently forming the Niagara Frontier Plein-Air Painters." [1]
She is also a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Buffalo Niagara Art Association, and Western New York Artists Group.
