Performance | PILLARS: HIP HOP IN WNY PRESENTS BCAT AND PURE INK POETRY
The second event in the Pillars series

As the second part of the Pillars: Hip Hop in WNY series, the Burchfield Penney Art Center presents a showcase of spoken word poetry, dance, and musical ensemble performances by the Buffalo Center for Art and Technology, and Pure Ink Poetry.
Tickets for the Pillars event are $5, and can be purchased at the admissions desk the night of.
The event will run from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
The line up includes:
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm: Buffalo Center for Art and Technology's Hip Hop Ensemble and Dance team performances
8:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Pure Ink Poetry
About the Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology's Performing Arts Department:
"Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology(BCAT) Performing Arts Department is made up of Dance Hip Hop Ensemble, Spoken Word, and Theatre. November 9th BCAT will showcase Dance, Hip Hop Ensemble and Spoken Word. Dance is taught by Jayquan “Blackstar” Mack and he teaches students dance foundation in hip hop, covering a lot of dance terminology and learning how to express oneself through movement, as well as transition from freestyle into hip hop choreography. Hip Hop Ensemble is taught by Toney Rhodes and teaches students to blends live instrumentation, classic hip-hop, and song writing with positivity and depth, resulting in powerful student-led and produced performances. Spoken Word is taught by BCAT’s Youth Coordinator Tom Dreitlien and he teachers the fundamentals of spoken word poetry, where students examine, discuss and write about the world around them. Together these amazing young people with share their talents with you prepare to be blown away."
About Pure Ink Poetry:
"Pure Ink Poetry is the only monthly running poetry slam in Buffalo, NY and is nationally certified by Poetry Slam Incorporated. Pure Ink Poetry was created by Buffalo Poet Brandon Williamson on January 11, 2012. With the support of Buffalo Graphic Design and Studio Artist Julia Williamson and Chicago Multimedia Performance and Visual Artist Bianca L. McGraw, Brandon Williamson has helped to engage a resurgence of poetry in the Buffalo area. Pure Ink Poetry continues to develop a collective community of poets, artists and performers while providing a creative and encouraging space for open mics and a fun and competitive setting for slams."
