May 10 – Thursday –

Heavy frost – the “backlots” white –

Day spent mostly on puttering – in the studio and the shed – the latter seemed a hopeless affair until I got the idea that it would be a good idea to call Bob Blair and let him take what frames he wanted and then let Hank for the time, take the rest – I found more frames that might be useful to Mart –

Oriole’s bouquet song all day –

Bill came at 3:30 and continued to work on the garden – and took out the trash for the pick-up tomorrow –

Warmer in the afternoon – more humid –

Evening to the Ardent’s home near Holland for the final meeting of the anniversary celebration. A new home set in the woods with an excellent view of the hills to the east. Two wood thrushes singing as we drove in – Sun setting over the hills as we sat there.
A pleasant time – Walter Moll has a large [unintelligible word] of good stories. Mrs. Ardent served refreshments –

Home and played some Canfield [a form of Solitaire] to relax –
End of the day (1:10 a.m.) music – Virgil Thomson’s Movie Music.
