Awake at 3:30 — up finally at 4:15 & start to get ready.
Off at 6:00 – A beautiful hour – the last moon crescent high in the Southeast; Orion setting in the West.
Across Canada. (Routes – 3 – 19 – 2 – 22 - & 7) – as dawn was breaking. Heavily frosted fields. Roadside bands of trees beautiful rich golden ochre with pure green depths.
“Lace-Gable” houses. One with Norway Spruces –
In Port Huron – Stop to see Bertha’s Aunt Emma & Uncle Josh. Aunt Emma – 90 and wonderful bright and well-preserved. Josh obviously failing, altho his mind in unimpaired. Drove Aunt Emma down to her daughter Mabel’s home & then on. Lunch in a park by the lake. Under oak trees – our feet in oak leaves – boats on the lake – Squirrels.
